5 reasons to work in a cafe
We're definitely going to be biased, but even science is on our side to prove that working in a café is pretty much the best way to combine business with pleasure. Yes, indeed! It's not just the pleasant aroma of freshly roasted coffee that fills the air: creativity and concentration do too!
1- Stimulate your creativity
Even if you work in the best offices, sometimes you can fall into a routine. When you sit in a café, new stimuli come from all directions, and the human brain releases dopamine (AKA the happiness hormone). These new stimuli mean a new environment, creative people working around you, and fewer distractions than those you have at the office (like that infamous colleague who's always asking questions...).
2. Fewer distractions
A hum of activity stimulates better functioning: Researchers at the University of Illinois have discovered that a noise similar to that of a cafe (about 70 decibels) improves both creativity and productivity.
Furthermore, having a Audience improves our performance . When you see motivated people working , you start to compete with them (unconsciously, of course) and become more productive.

It turns out there's literally something productive in the air in public places: sound waves. A 2012 study from the University of British Columbia found that, counterintuitively, a moderate amount of background noise can actually make you more creative than the bliss of silence.
3- You have a specific objective
Generally speaking, you have a specific goal when you go to a café: to work, to make progress on your to-do list. This clear intention influences your motivation to work: the sense of purpose you have when entering a café inspires you to accomplish more tasks and cross them off your list. In short, the fact that you go to a café with the sole intention of working makes a difference and allows you to be more efficient.
4- Two words: caffeine and endorphins
Stepping out of the office to grab a cup of your favorite coffee can simply boost the positive endorphins your brain needs to get through your afternoon meetings or the 1000 readings you have to do.
As for caffeine, it's no secret that it's what makes coffee the best "survival juice," providing you with an energy boost. That should be more than enough reason to drink several coffees while working at home!
5- You support your local cafes!
When you work in a coffee shop, you're not just helping yourself, you're helping others: the more specialty coffee culture grows, the more jobs are created. You're supporting your local baristas and coffee shop owners, as well as farmers around the world. So, is there a better way to meet colleagues, plan your next meeting, or simply get some work done on your laptop? We don't think so…
